Central Australia

In Central Australia, we work with five communities in and around Alice Springs. Children from each community learn both on Country and in the communities where they live at least three days a week. It was here where the Children’s Ground approach was first created. Local Elders, knowledge-holders and educators still guide our work as our operations grow.

Top End

Our work in the Top End is in both Darwin and West Arnhem Land. We are beginning our relationships with Town Camps in Darwin and continuing a long relationship with families from Marlkawo in West Arnhem Land. Marlkawo is 500 km (a 12-hour drive) from Darwin. Here, Children’s Ground operates entirely on Country during the Dry Season.

The Children’s Ground approach is adaptable to the environments where we work. It can be further adapted for other contexts, including urban areas. In 2021, we are piloting the Children’s Ground Approach in new communities in both Central Australia and the Top End.
