Apmwe Iwenhe (What Snake?) is an Arrernte children's book, written by First Nations educators at Ampe-kenhe Ahelhe (Children's Ground Central Australia). The vibrant illustrations were created by children from Uyenpere Atwatye (Hidden Valley Town Camp) during an Early Years learning activity in Mparntwe (Alice Springs).
Apmwe Iwenhe (What Snake?) documents the Eastern and Central Arrernte authors' ecological knowledge of Central Australian snakes - their names, habitats and behaviours, simultaneously introducing opposite words to Arrernte readers in a culturally relevant and insightful way.
