Alkere (Sky) tells the story of children who go walking in the bush, looking around at what they can seeThis song teaches children to use their eyes to look around them and notice the sky, the weather and the seasons, and use their hands to describe what they see.

Lyrics

Alkere (Sky) is sung in Eastern/Central Arrernte language.

This is the English translation:

All the kids went walking
Walking out in the Bush
What did they see?
What did they see?
Sky
Sun
Rainbow

All the kids went walking
Walking out in the Bush
What did they see?
What did they see?
Wind
Water
Rain

All the kids went walking
Walking out in the Bush
What did they see?
What did they see?
Night
Moon
Stars

All the kids went walking
Walking out in the Bush
What did they see?
What did they see?
Sky
Sun
Rainbow
