Children’s Ground acknowledges the findings of the coroner into the death of Kumanjayi Walker and stands in solidarity with his family and the people of Yuendumu.

This is a deeply painful time for community. The findings affirm what has long been expressed by families on the ground. We recognise their strength, persistence and dignity through years of grief and legal process.

What has been revealed through this inquest reflects broad systemic failure that continues to put First Nations lives at risk.

We join the calls for immediate and meaningful structural change.

Community-led responses, including justice and safety strategies grounded in cultural strength, must be supported. Justice must be lived through action, through accountability, and through respect for the authority and solutions of First Nations people.

To the families and people of Yuendumu, we offer our respect and stand beside you.
